Xavier Thames went the length of the court and scored with 1.2 seconds left as San Diego State snapped a five-game losing streak to Southern California with a 56-54 win over the visiting Trojans on Thursday. USC (1-2) forced the dramatic ending when Garrett Jackson hit back-to-back 3-pointers to cut the Aztecs’ lead to 54-51 with 1:27 to go. Maurice Jones tied the game with a 3-pointer with 6.8 seconds remaining. Jamaal Franklin scored 14 points and Thames had 12 for San Diego State (4-1), which was playing its fifth game in seven days. After trailing USC (1-1) by four at halftime, the Aztecs used a strong second half to extend their winning streak to 46 games against unranked opponents. Jones scored 15 points and Jackson added 13 for the Trojans, who lost to Nebraska in double overtime on Monday. Aaron Fuller scored 12 points and Dewayne Dedmon had 10 as the Trojans lost for just the second time in 12 games against San Diego State.

Aztecs guard Chase Tapley, who entered the game averaging a team-high 21.8 points, shot just 2 of 7 from the field and finished with five points.
