Tim Hardaway Jr. collected 21 points, seven rebounds and five assists as No. 15 Michigan shut down No. 8 Memphis 73-61 in the EA Sports Maui Invitational on Monday.

Michigan (4-0) will meet Duke in Tuesday's semifinals while Memphis (1-1) plays Tennessee in the losers' bracket.

Trey Burke added 14 points and four assists for the Wolverines, who shot 54 percent (27-of-50) from the floor.

The Tigers had only one tune-up before coming to Hawaii, but certainly looked as though points would not be a problem when they lit up Belmont 97-81 last week.

Michigan, though, shut them down almost completely, playing a zone defense and controlling the tempo so that Memphis could not get into its transition game. The Tigers ended up shooting 33 percent against that wide zone, including 4-of-21 from 3-point range.

The Wolverines took control in the last three minutes of the first half, closing the period with a 10-0 run to take a 37-31 lead into the break. Memphis would keep it around single digits until Burke capped a 6-0 run with a free throw at the 2:41 mark to make it 71-56 and put the game away.

Charles Carmouche scored 14 points to lead Memphis, which was outrebounded 35-21.
