Senior Malik Cooke scored half of his 14 points during a 15-0 second-half burst, as host South Carolina rallied past in-state rival Presbyterian 66-58 on Tuesday.

Cooke contributed three consecutive baskets in the run as the Gamecocks (4-5) erased a 25-19 halftime deficit. Cooke finished 5-of-7 from the field and had four rebounds.

Bruce Ellington added five of his team-high 15 points during the key stretch, his biggest output in three games since returning from the football team. Anthony Gill scored 10 points and had a game-leading eight rebounds.

Presbyterian (4-5) got 15 points from Khalid Mutakabbir, 13 from Josh Johnson and 10 points and a team-high six rebounds from Al’Lonzo Coleman.

South Carolina, which had not played in nine days because of a break for final exams, improved to 31-7 against the Blue Hose. The Gamecocks forced 18 turnovers and converted them into 20 points.
