Dion Dixon and Sean Kilpatrick each scored 16 points as Cincinnati pulled away late to defeat visiting DePaul 74-66 on Saturday.

Justin Jackson added a career-high 14 points for the Bearcats (16-7, 6-4 Big East), who ended a three-game slide and saw five players score in double figures.

Yancy Gates finished with 11 points and moved into sole possession of 18th place on Cincinnati’s all-time scoring list.

DePaul (11-11, 2-8) took its last lead at 63-62 with 6:06 remaining, but saw Jamee Crockett foul out on a questionable call on the next possession.

The foul turned out to be a turning point for the Blue Demons as their offense stalled, scoring only one point over the next six minutes after Crockett left with 17 points.

Following a free throw from Krys Faber 62 seconds later, Cincinnati grabbed the lead for good on a 3-pointer from Cashmere Wright, which triggered a 12-0 run and gave the Bearcats the biggest lead by either team at 74-64 until Charles McKinney ended DePaul’s field goal drought with an uncontested dunk in the final seconds.

Cleveland Melvin finished with 18 points and 12 rebounds for the Blue Demons, who have dropped seven of their last eight contests.
