VANDERBILT 59, SOUTH CAROLINA 48: John Jenkins scored 21 points, including three 3-pointers, as the host Commodores turned back a determined upset bid and gave coach Kevin Stallings his eighth 20-win season.

Vanderbilt, which has won three straight, swept the season series and remained in third place in the Southeastern Conference.

Vanderbilt (20-8, 9-4 SEC) didn’t have its usual success from the outside, hitting only 4 of 16 3-pointers, but had success inside with Festus Ezeli scoring 14 and Lance Goulbourne getting 12 points and eight rebounds.

South Carolina (10-17, 2-11) got 15 points, four assists and four rebounds from Bruce Ellington, who had 20 points in the first meeting. Damien Leonard added 10, but made only 2 of 12 3-point tries.

South Carolina was 8 for 25 from 3-point range, which led to the Gamecocks only getting to the free throw line four times.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Jeffery Taylor was held to four points, his lowest output of the season, which snapped a 25-game stretch of double-figure scoring. ... Vanderbilt leads the series 26-24.
