Separated by just four points entering the final six minutes, Wake Forest finally pulled away from Texas Tech, defeating the Red Raiders 70-61 in the consolation game of the Old Spice Classic in Orlando.

The Demon Deacons (4-2) are already halfway towards matching last season's win total. Wake Forest went 8-24 last season.

Leading 34-26 at the half, Wake Forest opened a double-digit lead before the first media timeout of the second half, thanks to nine straight points from Travis McKie. The Demon Deacons led by as many as 17 but the Red Raiders narrowed the gap with a 10-0 run. Wake Forest answered with a 9-3 spurt and Texas Tech never challenged again.

McKie led all scorers with 20 points, his fourth game with 20 or more this season. C.J. Harris added 18 points and Tony Chennault had 12. Jaron Nash came off the bench to lead Texas Tech (3-3) with 15 points. Toddrick Gotcher added 10 points, but promising sophomore forward Jordan Tolbert was held to six points on 3-of-4 shooting and was benched to start the second half.
