Angel Rodriguez scored a career-high 19 points and Will Spradling added 14 as the host Wildcats rolled past the overmatched Cardinals in the NIT Season Tip-Off.

Jordan Henriquez blocked six shots and grabbed eight rebounds as Kansas State improved to 2-0 under new coach Bruce Weber and will host Alabama-Huntsville on Tuesday in the second round.

Donley Minor scored 17 points and made four 3-point baskets and Rhon Mitchell added 15 points for Lamar, which committed 26 turnovers in its season-opening game.

Kansas State asserted control from the outset while scoring the first 15 points of the game. The Cardinals committed five turnovers during the stretch before finally getting on the board on a free throw by Osas Ebomwonyi with 15:40 left in the half.

The Wildcats later went on a 17-2 run to boost the lead to 32-7 with 4:42 left en route to a 43-15 halftime lead. Rodriguez scored 11 second-half points as the contest remained one-sided.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Rodriguez and Spradling each connected on four 3-pointers and Kansas State was 11-of-26 from behind the arc. … Lamar shot only 28.6 percent from the field in the first half. … Henriquez blocked five or more shots five times last season while setting a school record with 77 rejections.
