Arizona State 64, Cornell 53:
Freshman Jahii Carson scored 15 of his 21 points in the second half as the host Sun Devils knocked off the Big Red.

Jordan Bachynski grabbed 10 rebounds and blocked seven shots and Carrick Felix added 10 points to help Arizona State improve to 3-0 despite shooting only 35.2 percent from the field.

Shonn Miller had 13 points and 12 rebounds and Josh Figini scored 12 points for Cornell (1-4), which lost its fourth straight game.

Arizona State trailed 38-36 with just under 11 minutes to play after back-to-back 3-pointers by Cornell’s Nolan Cressler and Devin Cherry. The Sun Devils responded with an 11-2 run that included 3-pointers by Chris Colvin, Jonathan Gilling and Felix and the Big Red were unable to make a significant late-game charge.

Cornell led by as many as six points in the first half and led 25-22 at the break.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Arizona State has blocked 11 shots in each of its first three games. … Cornell committed 23 turnovers and shot only 35.2 percent from the field. … The Sun Devils accumulated 14 steals with Felix and Gilling recording four apiece.
