No. 8 Arizona 63, Southern Miss 55: Nick Johnson scored a career-high 23 points and Kevin Parrom added 14 as the Wildcats survived an upset bid by the visiting Golden Eagles.

Arizona (6-0) outscored Southern Miss 14-4 in the final 5:50 to complete its comeback after trailing by eight at halftime. Parrom scored 13 points in the second half, including a critical 3-pointer to put Arizona ahead 54-51 with 4:50 left.

Neil Watson had a season-high 17 points and Michael Craig added 10 points and seven rebounds for Southern Miss (6-2), which tied the game at 49 on Craig’s jumper with 8:10 to play.

Freshman center Kaleb Tarczewski had seven points and seven rebounds for the Wildcats, who shot 54.5 percent in the second half and 45.2 percent overall. The two teams combined to commit 49 turnovers - 27 by Arizona.

Solomon Hill drilled a 3-pointer with 1:52 left to increase Arizona’s lead to six, and the Wildcats sealed the win with six straight free throws.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Arizona entered the game ranked sixth nationally in scoring offense while averaging 85.2 points. …The Wildcats outrebounded the Golden Eagles 28-24. …Arizona G Mark Lyons, who entered the game averaging 14 points, finished with four points on 0-for-7 shooting.
