No. 7 Arizona 71, Arizona State 54: Mark Lyons matched a season high with 24 points and Nick Johnson added 19 as the visiting Wildcats beat their rivals in a key Pac-12 matchup.

Solomon Hill added 13 points, six rebounds and five assists for Arizona (16-1, 4-1 Pac-12), which has won two straight since suffering its first loss of the season at Oregon.

Freshman Jahii Carson scored 22 points and Evan Gordon added 14 to lead Arizona State (14-4, 3-2).

The Sun Devils were within 46-44 when Carson went to the bench with four fouls with 9:50 left. His backup, Chris Colvin, was suspended before the game for an undisclosed violation of team rules.

The Wildcats reeled off an 11-0 run after Carson left and didn't let the lead slip below nine points again.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Arizona has won 29 of the past 37 meetings in the series that dates to 1914, but won for just the fifth time in the past 12 contests. … The Wildcats got just eight points from their bench, but it was enough to double up Arizona State's reserves. … Arizona State's Carrick Felix and Jordan Bachynski combined for eight points on 2-of-13 shooting. Both average double digits.
