UCLA 84, No. 6 Arizona 73: Shabazz Muhammad scored 23 points and Kyle Anderson grabbed 12 rebounds as the visiting Bruins tamed the Wildcats in a Pac-12 showdown.

David Wear had 15 points and eight rebounds and Jordan Adams added 15 points as UCLA (16-4, 6-1 Pac-12) built a 16-point lead in the first seven minutes while winning for the 11th time in 12 contests.

Nick Johnson scored 23 points to pace Arizona (16-2, 4-2). Mark Lyons chipped in 16 points and Solomon Hill had 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Wildcats, who were 5-of-24 from 3-point range while losing for the first time in 10 home games.

Arizona trailed by 14 with 13 minutes to play before rattling off 10 straight points. The Wildcats were within 70-64 after Johnson’s hoop with 3:47 to play before the Bruins pulled away to move within a half-game of first-place Oregon.

UCLA jumped out to a 19-3 lead as Arizona missed 12 of its first 13 shots. The Wildcats pulled within 27-20 on Brandon Ashley’s dunk with 6:05 left in the half before the Bruins built the lead back to 40-30 at halftime.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Bruins F Travis Wear had six first-half points before missing the second half with concussion-like symptoms. … Lyons was 6-of-17 from the field and the Arizona point guard committed five turnovers without recording a single assist. … The victory was UCLA’s first on the road against a ranked team since beating Washington State during the 2007-08 campaign when the roster included current NBA players Kevin Love, Russell Westbrook, Darren Collison and Luc Richard Mbah a Moute.
