Texas A&M 69, Mississippi 67: Elston Turner scored 22 of his 37 points in the first half as the host Aggies held off the Rebels.

Turner hit 13 of 20 shots from the field and nailed a career-high seven 3-pointers for Texas A&M (15-9, 5-6 SEC). Leading 56-54 with 9:56 remaining, the Aggies scored nine of the next 12 points to build a 65-57 advantage on Fabyon Harris’ basket with 5:28 to go.

Mississippi (18-6, 7-4) rallied to within 69-67 on Derrick Millinghaus’ two free throws with 10 seconds remaining. Turner missed the front end of a one-and-one, but Millinghaus’ jumper at the buzzer fell short.

Reginald Buckner scored 13 points with 15 rebounds for Mississippi. Millinghaus added 13 points while Marshall Henderson, the SEC’s leading scorer at 19.9 points, finished with 10 points before fouling out with six seconds left.

Turner scored 22 of Texas A&M’s first 26 points on 7-for-7 shooting (4-for-4 on 3-pointers). Despite Turner’s torrid start, the Rebels led by as many as six in the first half and held a 38-35 advantage at intermission.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Henderson finished 2-for-8 from 3-point range. … Ray Turner pulled down 13 rebounds for the Aggies. … Elston Turner fell three points shy of his career high. He scored 40 points in a loss to Kentucky on Jan. 12.
