No. 6 Syracuse 87, Colgate 51: James Southerland scored 18 points and Michael Carter-Williams had a career-high 13 assists as the host Orange won their 47th straight game over the Raiders.

Brandon Triche scored 15 points, DaJuan Coleman had 12 points and seven rebounds and Rakeem Christmas recorded 10 points and nine rebounds for Syracuse (4-0), which has won its games by an average of 25 points and not allowed an opponent to score more than 57. The Orange led by as many as 40 in the second half.

Murphy Burnatowski, Pat Moore and John Brandenburg scored eight points apiece for Colgate (3-4), which is playing eight of its first nine games on the road. The Raiders were outrebounded 41-31 and committed 16 turnovers to Syracuse's six.

Syracuse led 38-24 at halftime despite shooting 40 percent from the field, including 31.3 percent from 3-point range. Southerland was 4-of-9 from beyond the arc and scored the last of his 16 first-half points on a 3-pointer with 5:18 left to give the Orange a 33-20 lead.

Syracuse increased its advantage to 58-33 with 11:46 remaining on Jerami Grant's basket off Carter-Williams' final assist of the game. The Orange finished the game on a 27-13 run.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Orange first played the Raiders in 1902 and lead the series 119-45. Syracuse hasn't lost to Colgate since 1962, when Orange coach Jim Boeheim was a senior in high school. ... Syracuse opponents have committed 79 turnovers - nearly 20 per game. ... The Orange return to action Friday when they visit Arkansas in the SEC/Big East Challenge.
