Tim Hardaway Jr. had 25 points and 10 rebounds as the host Wolverines opened a season of high expectations with a rout of the Division II Rockets.

Preseason All-American Trey Burke added 21 points and eight assists and Glen Robinson III, who will be counted on to lead a heralded freshman class, had 10 points and eight rebounds for Michigan, which shot 57.6 percent from the field and 63.2 percent from 3-point range.

Devin Taylor scored 14 points, Luiz Santos had 12 and Darious Clark added 11 for Slippery Rock, which plays in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference.

The Wolverines didn't take the lead for good until Burke's 3-pointer with 13:10 left in the first half made it 17-15. Michigan steadily pulled away en route to a 44-30 halftime lead as Robinson scored six points in the final 8:11 of the period.

After the Rockets scored the first four points of the second half, The Wolverines took complete control with a 21-6 run. Michigan increased its lead to 40 with 1:58 remaining.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Michigan is one of five Big Ten teams ranked in the preseason Top 25 and one of three in the top five (Indiana first, Ohio State fourth). ... Slippery Rock was 6-of-21 from 3-point range. ... The Wolverines had 19 assists to the Rockets' 10.
