Drake 74, No. 12 Creighton 69: Junior guard Richard Carter came off the bench to score 20 points, including a short floater with 51 seconds left that proved to be the game-winner, as the host Bulldogs handed the Bluejays their second straight Missouri Valley Conference loss.

Doug McDermott scored 19 points for Creighton (17-3, 6-2) but had just four in the second half when the Bluejays rallied from a 16-point halftime deficit to regain the lead thanks in large part to the scoring of point guard Grant Gibbs, who scored all 18 of his points after intermission.

Forward Ben Simons added 13 points for Drake (9-10, 3-5), including a pair of game-clinching free throws with 0.5 seconds left following a steal.

Creighton, which had an 11-game win streak snapped at Wichita State on Saturday, took an early 20-16 lead on a McDermott layup off a Gibbs assist. But Drake went on a 9-0 run capped by back-to-back 3-pointers by Carter to take a 25-20 lead.

The Bulldogs, who were blown out by the Bluejays 91-61 in the first meeting on Jan. 8 in Omaha, ended the half with a 12-0 run en route to a 44-28 halftime lead. But Creighton rallied to take a 62-61 lead on a McDermott layup with 7:11 remaining. The Bulldogs took the lead for good a few minutes later on a free throw by center Seth VanDeest that triggered a game-ending 10-5 run.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Creighton, which came into the game leading the nation in 3-point percentage (45.2) and 3-pointers made per game (9.6), was 0-for-7 from behind the arc in the first half and made 5-of-21 (23 percent) for the game. ... The 16-point halftime deficit marked Creighton's largest deficit of the season. ... The victory snapped a four-game losing streak to the Bluejays for Drake.
