California 71, Oregon State 68: Allen Crabbe had 15 points and eight rebounds and the Bears rallied from an eight-point halftime deficit to beat the visiting Beavers.

Richard Solomon’s dunk put California (12-8, 4-4 Pac-12) ahead by three with 24 seconds left, and the Bears held on for coach Mike Montgomery’s 100th win at the school. Justin Cobbs added 14 points and seven assists.

Roberto Nelson had 25 points on 10-of-16 shooting for Oregon State (11-10, 1-7), which lost despite shooting 60 percent in the first half and 46.7 percent overall. Joe Burton scored 14 points and Ahmad Starks added 12.

California, which trailed by as many as 12 in the second half, went to the foul line only twice while Oregon State made eight of its 15 shots from the line. The Bears shot 51.6 percent in the second half and outscored the Beavers 38-27.

Solomon and David Kravish scored 12 points apiece for the Bears, while Robert Thurman made several key plays in the final minutes and finished with eight points, six rebounds and three assists in 20 minutes.

GAME NOTEBOOK: California reserve wing Jeff Powers suffered a left knee injury with two minutes left in the first half and did not return. … Oregon State fell to 11-4 when leading at halftime. …California, which entered the game as the worst 3-point shooting team in the Pac-12, took a season-high 26 shots from beyond the arc and made nine of them.
