Pittsburgh 65, No. 6 Syracuse 55: Tray Woodall scored 13 points as the Panthers upset the depleted Orange and improved to 13-1 all-time against top-10 opponents in the Petersen Events Center.

Steven Adams and J.J. Moore added eight points each and the Pittsburgh bench outscored Syracuse 31-3. Talib Zanna chipped in a game-high 12 rebounds. The Panthers (18-5, 6-4 Big East) have won nine of their last 11 games against Syracuse (18-3, 6-2).

C.J. Fair led the Orange with 20 points as Syracuse matched its lowest scoring output of the season in its first game without James Southerland and DaJauan Coleman. Brandon Triche and Michael Carter-Williams added 14 and 13, respectively.

After taking a 27-25 lead into halftime, Pittsburgh pushed its cushion to 48-39 on a Durand Johnson 3-pointer with 5:54 left. Four Triche free throws pulled Syracuse within five, but Woodall scored eight points in the last 52 seconds to put the game out of reach.

No Panthers player cracked double digits until Woodall made two free throws with 40 seconds left, but all 10 Panthers players that saw the court scored at least two points.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Pittsburgh outrebounded Syracuse 37-21 and recorded 19 assists to Syracuse’s five. Carter-Williams recorded a season-low two assists. … The Orange entered Saturday with only seven active scholarship players. Southerland was suspended indefinitely for academic issues on Jan. 12, while Coleman underwent left knee surgery this week and will be sidelined four weeks. … Syracuse has not won in Pittsburgh since Hakim Warrick (17 points, eight rebounds) led the Orange to a 49-46 victory on Feb. 29, 2004.
