Northern Iowa 57, No. 14 Wichita State 52: Anthony James scored 13 of his team-high 16 points in the second half and the host Panthers upset the Shockers.

Northern Iowa (12-11, 5-6 Missouri Valley) also received nine from guard Marc Sonnen. Wichita State (19-4, 8-3) was led by senior forward Carl Hall, who finished with a game-high 20, and junior forward Cleanthony Early, who added 10.

The Shockers scored the first six points, but the Panthers stormed back with a 15-3 run as the teams played to a 23-23 halftime tie. A 14-0 run in the second half built the Northern Iowa lead to double digits.

Early fouled out with 2:47 to play, and Wichita State cut the lead to two with 1:18 left. But Seth Tuttle blocked a potential game-tying layup with 15 seconds left, and the Shockers came no closer.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Shockers have lost consecutive regular-season games for the first time since November 2011. … Sonnen, who entered the game third in the nation in 3-point shooting percentage, was 3-of-8 from beyond the arc. … Wichita State had previously won four straight over Northern Iowa.
