Arizona State 66, California 62: Evan Gordon scored 23 points and Jahii Carson and Ruslan Pateev added 12 points apiece as the Sun Devils held off a late charge by the visiting Bears.

California battled back from a 15-point deficit with eight minutes to play and trailed 64-62 with 23 seconds left after back-to-back 3-pointers by Justin Cobbs. Arizona State (18-5, 7-3 Pac-12) hit three of its final four free throws to snap a five-game losing streak against the Bears.

Allen Crabbe and Tyrone Wallace scored 16 points apiece for California (13-9, 5-5), which shot 57.1 percent (8-of-14) from the foul line. Wallace scored nine of his points in the final 7:06 to spark the Bears' rally and Cobbs finished with 13 points.

The Sun Devils, who have won four of their last five games, opened the contest with a 25-9 run and never trailed. Pateev added eight rebounds and three blocked shots and Jonathan Gilling grabbed eight boards.

Carson had another strong second half for Arizona State, which was held to 66 points after averaging 82.8 in its past four games. Carson scored 10 of his 12 points after the break and had four steals.
