Ben McLemore scored 30 points and made six 3-point baskets on his 20th birthday as the Jayhawks snapped a three-game losing skid by routing the visiting Wildcats.

Jeff Withey had 17 points, 10 rebounds and five blocked shots and Kevin Young had 13 points and nine rebounds as Kansas (20-4, 8-3) moved into a first-place tie in the Big 12 with Kansas State.

Rodney McGruder scored 20 points and Angel Rodriguez added 17 for the Wildcats (19-5, 8-3), who had a four-game winning streak halted.

Kansas began pulling away with a 16-3 run and took a 23-10 lead on a jumper by Naadir Tharpe with 9:17 left in the first half. The advantage reached 21 on two free throws by McLemore with 3:26 to go and the Jayhawks led 47-29 at the break.

Kansas State cut its deficit to 58-43 with 14 minutes to play before Kansas reasserted itself with a 17-7 surge. McLemore’s 3-pointer made it 75-50 with 8:42 remaining and the Jayhawks wrapped up their 46th win in the last 49 meetings with the Wildcats.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Withey has 263 career blocks and broke a tie with Greg Ostertag (258 from 1991-95) as the all-time leader since Kansas began recording blocked shots. … The Wildcats gave up a season-worst point total. Kansas State was allowing 58.3 entering the contest. … Kansas has won at least 20 games in each of the past 24 seasons.
