No. 13 Kansas 73, Texas 47: Senior center Jeff Withey had 15 points, 11 rebounds and a career-high four steals as the host Jayhawks remained tied atop the Big 12 standings.

Travis Releford also scored 15 points, Ben McLemore had 13 and Elijah Johnson finished with 12 for Kansas (21-4, 9-3 Big 12).

Myck Kabongo, in his second game with Texas since coming off a 23-game suspension to start the season, missed his first seven shots before finishing with a team-high 13 points for the Longhorns (11-14, 3-9).

Texas endured a brutal first half in which it shot 19.2 percent. The Longhorns missed 12 consecutive field goals during one stretch and made one during a span of 15:19.

The Jayhawks shot 34.5 percent in the opening half, committed eight turnovers and allowed nine offensive rebounds, which limited their halftime lead to 28-15. Kansas opened the second half with an 8-2 run to go up by 19 and gradually increased its advantage.

GAME NOTBOOK: Sheldon McClellan, the leading scorer for Texas at 14.5, did not score until making two free throws with 5:53 remaining. He finished with seven points. Julien Lewis, second on the Longhorns in scoring (11.1), went scoreless for the first time this season. … The Jayhawks retired the No. 15 jersey of Mario Chalmers during halftime. … Kansas entered the weekend leading the nation in field-goal percentage defense at 36.1 percent. Texas shot 21.8 percent.
