No. 1 Indiana 72, No. 5 Michigan State 68:
Victor Oladipo scored six of his 19 points in the final 47 seconds as the visiting Hoosiers survived the Spartans and took over sole possession of first place in the Big Ten.

Oladipo broke free for a dunk to give Indiana (24-3, 12-2 Big Ten) a 70-67 lead with 10 seconds left and clinched it at the free-throw line. Cody Zeller added 17 points and Jordan Hulls and Christian Watford chipped in 12 apiece for the Hoosiers, who snapped a 17-game losing streak in East Lansing, Mich., with its first win since February 1991.

Gary Harris scored 19 points but missed a chance to tie it with 3.7 seconds when he was fouled on a 3-point attempt. Harris missed the first free throw and Michigan State (22-5, 11-3) failed to get the rebound on the intentional miss after the third.

Indiana led 57-51 with 9:49 left before the Spartans began to chip away. Adreian Payne, who scored 17 points, pulled Michigan State within 59-58 with his third 3-pointer and then gave his team the lead on a layup with 6:27 to play.

It went back and forth until back-to-back layups by Derrick Nix and a free throw from Harris gave the Spartans their biggest lead of the game at 67-63 with 1:38 to play. But Watford responded with a three-point play to cut it to one and Oladipo followed Kevin Ferrell’s missed layup with an offensive rebound and a tip-in to give Indiana back the lead with 47 seconds left.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Indiana F Will Sheehey, who set a school record for most field goals without a miss in a 9-for-9 performance against Purdue on Saturday, went 1-for-5 from the field and finished with two points. … Things got physical underneath between Nix and Zeller late in the second half, and officials had to go to replay to determine if a shot below the belt to Zeller was intentional. Nix was not called for a flagrant foul after the review. … Spartans leading scorer Keith Appling scored six points on 1-of-8 shooting. He went 2-for-12 combined in two losses to the Hoosiers this season.
