No. 15 Butler 68, Duquesne 49: Rotnei Clarke scored 16 points as the host Bulldogs prepped for a difficult stretch with a rout of the last-place Dukes.

Butler (22-5, 9-3 Atlantic 10), which plays its next two games against conference heavyweights Saint Louis and Virginia Commonwealth, shot 47.6 percent from 3-point range and was never challenged. Khyle Marshall chipped in 14 points and Kellen Dunham had 11 off the bench.

Derrick Colter led Duquesne (8-18, 1-11) with 11 points. Jerry Jones and Jeremiah Jones added nine apiece.

Alex Barlow opened the game with a 3-pointer for Butler, which never lost the lead. Barlow and Andrew Smith hit back-to-back 3s late in the first half to make it 36-20 and Marshall's three-point play less than five minutes into the second half gave the Bulldogs their first 20-point advantage at 45-25.

The Dukes, who trailed by as many as 22 down the stretch, were outrebounded 36-28 and got to the foul line just eight times. Smith, playing his second game since an abdominal injury, had a game-high 10 rebounds to help Butler control the interior.

GAME NOTEBOOK: This was the first meeting since the teams played twice as members of the Midwestern Collegiate Conference in the 1992-93 season. ... Clarke has scored in double figures in all eight games since returning from a neck injury. ... St. Louis defeated Virginia Commonwealth 76-62 later Tuesday night.
