Elijah Johnson scored a career-high 39 points as the visiting Jayhawks ended the Cyclones’ 22-game home-winning streak and remained tied atop the Big 12 standings.

Travis Releford contributed 19 points, Jeff Withey had 13 points and 10 rebounds and Kevin Young finished with 13 points and nine rebounds for Kansas (24-4, 12-3 Big 12).

The Cyclones (19-9, 9-6) set a school record by making 17 3-pointers on 41 attempts. Korie Lucious scored a season-high 23 points, Tyrus McGee shot 6-for-10 from 3-point range and matched his career-high with 22 points and Georges Niang scored 15 for Iowa State.

Iowa State forward Melvin Ejim, the leading rebounder in the Big 12 (9.7), fouled out with 3:33 remaining in regulation and the Cyclones up by six. The Jayhawks took advantage, tying the score at 90 on two free throws by Johnson with 4.9 seconds left in regulation.

Johnson, who had nine points at the half, scored 12 in overtime to put the Cyclones away. Kansas leading scorer Ben McLemore, who tallied a season-high 33 points in another overtime victory against Iowa State last month, matched his season low with seven points.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Johnson scored the most points in a Big 12 game this season. … Kansas coach Bill Self earned his 500th career victory. ... Iowa State has converted 10 or more 3-pointers in seven straight games.
