Missouri 89, Louisiana State 76: Laurence Bowers collected 23 points and 10 rebounds as Missouri continued its hot shooting in a triumph over visiting LSU.

Alex Oriakhi added 18 points and 10 boards while Phil Pressey had 15 points and eight assists for Missouri (21-8, 10-6 SEC), which has won two straight and five of seven to move into a tie for fourth place in the SEC. Missouri shot 58.1 percent from the field against LSU after blitzing South Carolina at 69.6 percent on Thursday.

Anthony Hickey scored 22 points and Charles Carmouche added 21 as LSU (17-10, 8-8) fell for just the third time in its last 10 games.

Missouri trailed 25-12 midway through the first half but ended the period on a 31-14 run to take a four-point lead into the break. Earnest Ross came off the bench to score 10 points and Bowers added nine during the burst.

Missouri stretched it out to 59-47 when Pressey found Oriakhi for a dunk with 15:35 left, and led by as many as 16 points before a barrage of 3-pointers from Carmouche and Hickey helped cut it back down to 80-72 with 3:03 remaining. Bell and Pressey led a 9-4 run over the final two minutes to put it away.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Missouri is tied for fourth with Mississippi, which lost at Mississippi State 73-67 on Saturday afternoon. The top four spots get a double-bye in the SEC tournament. … LSU will try to keep its dwindling bubble hopes alive at Texas A&M on Wednesday before finishing the regular season against Mississippi on March 9. … Pressey has 206 assists and needs 18 to break his own school single-season record.
