Deshaun Thomas had 18 points and eight rebounds and the visiting Buckeyes prevented the Hoosiers from clinching the Big Ten title.

Aaron Craft scored 10 of his 15 points in the second half to help Ohio State (22-7, 12-5 Big Ten) pull within one game of Indiana in the conference race.

Cody Zeller scored 17 points and Christian Watford added 12 for the Hoosiers (25-5, 13-4). Big Ten Player of the Year candidate Victor Oladipo had just seven points and the Hoosiers shot only 39.6 percent from the field.

Ohio State led 28-25 at halftime but trailed 39-34 five-plus minutes into the second half before seizing control with a 27-11 surge over the ensuing 11-plus minutes. The Hoosiers trailed 52-50 with 6:10 left before the Buckeyes ripped off nine straight points and completed the run on a dunk by Lenzelle Smith Jr. to take an 11-point lead with 3:15 to play.

Indiana made a last-ditch run and cut Ohio State’s lead to 64-58 on a 3-pointer by Jordan Hulls with 37.3 seconds left. Thomas made two free throws and Smith hit one as the Buckeyes sealed the victory.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Ohio State has won eight of the past 10 meetings. … Indiana’s 11-point deficit was its largest of the season. … Craft and Shannon Scott each had four steals for the Buckeyes.
