No. 8 Michigan 80, Purdue 75: Trey Burke recorded 26 points and seven assists as the visiting Wolverines rallied from 12 points down in the second half to edge the Boilermakers.

Nik Stauskas contributed 17 points and Tim Hardaway Jr. added 16 for Michigan (25-5, 12-5 Big Ten), which snapped a four-game road losing streak. Burke was 7-of-8 from the foul line in the final minute and had a key steal for the Wolverines, who can gain a share of the league title with a home victory over Indiana on Sunday.

Terone Johnson scored a career-high 32 points for Purdue (14-16, 7-10), but saw the ball go through his hands in the final seconds with a chance to tie the game on a 3-pointer. Rapheal Davis chipped in with 15 points and nine rebounds while Sandi Marcius had 13 points for the Boilermakers.

Purdue trailed by as much as 12 points early before settling down and scoring 14 of the final 16 points to take a 34-30 lead at intermission. Johnson poured in 13 points in the final 9:18 of the first half to key the Boilermakers’ run.

Michigan scored the first four points of the second half to tie it, but Purdue responded with an 18-6 run – including nine by Johnson – to build a 52-40 lead with 12:05 left. Burke scored 14 of his team’s next 19 points as the Wolverines edged in front by one with 5:20 remaining and Stauskas later drained a key 3-pointer to put Michigan ahead 69-64.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Burke has scored at least 15 points in all 17 Big Ten games. … Marcius, who did not start, scored the first nine points for Purdue. … Michigan freshman F Glenn Robinson III collected six points and seven rebounds in his first game at the alma mater of his father, who averaged 30.3 points for the Boilermakers in 1993-94.
