No. 14 New Mexico 60, San Diego State 50: Tony Snell scored a game-high 17 points and the top-seeded Lobos opened the second half on a 14-2 run to cruise in the Mountain West Conference semifinals at Las Vegas.

Cameron Bairstow added 16 points and Alex Kirk scored 15 for New Mexico (28-5) which also defeated San Diego State in the final of the MWC tournament last season. The Lobos will meet tournament host UNLV in Saturday's final.

Chase Tapley and Xavier Thames both scored 14 to lead San Diego State. The Aztecs (22-10) received eight points from leading scorer Jamaal Franklin, putting their NCAA Tournament hopes in jeopardy.

New Mexico took a 29-20 lead into the break and quickly opened up a 21-point lead in the opening minutes of the second half.

San Diego State closed the gap to 55-46 with 4:39 to go after Tapley scored five straight points. But Kirk followed with a layup and Kendall Williams hit a runner in the lane to put the game away.

Game notebook: San Diego State has won four MWC tournament titles, the most in the conference. It dropped the title game last season 68-59 ...Franklin had a game-high dozen rebounds. Bairstow had 11 to lead the Lobos. ... Williams had seven points and six assists.
