Iowa State 76, Notre Dame 58: Georges Niang scored a career-high 19 points and the Cyclones forced the Fighting Irish into 14 first-half turnovers in a dominant performance in the second round of the NCAA Tournament West Regional at Dayton, Ohio.

Melvin Ejim added 17 points for Iowa State (23-11), which will play second-seeded Ohio State in Sunday's third round. Tyrus McGee finished with nine points and hit three of the 10th-seeded Cyclones' nine 3-pointers.

Notre Dame (25-10) got 14 points from both Tom Knight and Jack Cooley, but the Big East continued to get disastrous early results, losing its fifth team in the tournament in the past two days. The stellar Fighting Irish backcourt combo of Jerian Grant and Eric Atkins finished with a combined four assists and seven turnovers as the Fighting Irish lost their first game in the tournament for the second straight year.

Iowa State led 35-23 at the half as Notre Dame managed only two field goals in the final 11:18 before the break. The Cyclones, who finished the half on a 21-5 run, blew the game open in the early stages of the second half as Niang scored six straight Iowa State points in another big spurt as the Cyclones built a 51-33 lead with 13:21 left.
