Arizona 74, Harvard 51: Mark Lyons matched his career high with 27 points and the sixth-seeded Wildcats took advantage of a slow start by the Crimson to win the NCAA Tournament West Region quarterfinal in Salt Lake City.

Solomon Hill contributed 13 points and 10 rebounds for Arizona (27-7), which will play second-seeded Ohio State or No. 10 seed Iowa State in the Sweet 16 next week in Los Angeles.

Kenyatta Smith scored 10 points as the only player in double figures for Harvard (20-10), which was trying to become the third No. 14 seed in tournament history to advance to the Sweet 16. Wesley Saunders, the team’s leading scorer coming in at 16.1, finished with eight points on 1-for-11 shooting.

Harvard missed its first 13 field-goal attempts before Siyani Chambers made a 3 to cut deficit to 17-5 with 12:17 left in the first half. The Wildcats led by as many as 22 before taking a 40-22 lead into the break.

The Crimson scored eight unanswered points early in the second half to cut the deficit to 14 but Lyons scored five straight of his own and Harvard never got back within 16.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Hill moved into 20th in career scoring at Arizona and 10th in rebounding, becoming the seventh player in school history to accomplish those feats. … The Wildcats have combined to shoot 56 percent through the first two tournament games and have yet to trail. … The Crimson entered the tournament ranked sixth in the nation in 3-point shooting (40.3) but shot 5-for-18 compared to 9-for-15 for the Wildcats.
