Syracuse 55, Marquette 39:
James Southerland scored 16 points and C.J. Fair added 13 as the Orange advanced to the Final Four for the first time in 10 years by downing the Golden Eagles in the East Regional final at Washington D.C.

Michael Carter-Williams added 12 points, 11 rebounds and five assists and fourth-seeded Syracuse (30-9) limited Marquette to a season-worst 22.6 percent from the field. The Orange will meet Florida or Michigan next Saturday in the Final Four.

Vander Blue and Davante Gardner scored 14 points apiece for the third-seeded Golden Eagles (26-9), who went 3-for-25 from 3-point range and committed 13 turnovers while posting a season-low scoring output.

Syracuse opened up a 15-6 lead midway through the first half en route to a 24-18 halftime lead. A 9-2 burst in the second half increased the advantage to 37-25 with 10:56 to play.

Marquette’s attempts to make a bona fide run were sabotaged by poor shooting. The Golden Eagles trailed by 11 before Southerland drained a 3-pointer with 2:23 left to start an 8-0 spurt that put the game away.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Marquette G Junior Cadougan tweaked his neck and back during a fall late in the first half and returned in the second. He had six points on 1-of-8 shooting. … Syracuse had a 17-0 edge in points off turnovers. … Gardner went 6-of-9 from the field; the rest of the Golden Eagles were 6-for-44.
