Florida State 85, No. 10 Virginia Commonwealth 67: Ian Miller scored 22 points off the bench to establish a career high for the second straight game and the Seminoles posted the third upset of the day at the Puerto Rico Tip-Off.

Devon Bookert scored 18 points to balance out his seven turnovers and Montay Brandon added 14 points and 11 rebounds for Florida State (4-0). Okaro White contributed 14 points and nine rebounds for the Seminoles, who will meet No. 13 Michigan in Friday’s semifinals.

Treveon Graham scored 10 of his 14 points in the second half for Virginia Commonwealth (3-1). Rob Brandenberg added 10 points for the Rams and Mo Alie-Cox pulled down most of his 11 rebounds in mop-up duty.

Miller, who averaged 5.3 points as a junior last season, scored 15 in the first half as the Seminoles built a 48-36 lead. Florida State started slow but gradually used its size advantage to wear down the Rams, moving ahead by five with just under 12 minutes remaining in the opening half and stretching the lead to 14 on Okaro’s three-point play with five minutes left.

Florida State led by as much as 17 before the Rams scored seven straight points in the final 1:14 of the opening half to cut the deficit back to 12 at the break. The Seminoles didn’t let up, however, starting the second half on an 11-0 run and then stretching the lead to 64-38 with 14:12 left.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Seminoles posted their first win against a ranked opponent since beating No. 4 North Carolina to win the 2012 Atlantic Coast Conference championship. … The Seminoles have won their first four games by an average of 20.5 points and have scored at least 80 points in four straight contests after scoring at least 80 just four times all of last season, when they averaged 67. … The Seminoles, who led the nation in field-goal percentage defense in 2010 (.377) and 2011 (.363), limited the Rams to 29.3 from the field.
