No. 18 Kansas 77, No. 10 Iowa State 70: Andrew Wiggins scored 17 points and hauled in 19 rebounds as the visiting Jayhawks stayed undefeated in the Big 12 with a win over the Cyclones.

Naadir Tharpe scored a game-high 23 points on 7-for-9 from the floor and had four of Kansas’ 16 assists. Joel Embiid added 16 points, nine rebounds and five blocks for the Jayhawks (12-4, 3-0), who won the rebounding battle 53-36.

DeAndre Kane led Iowa State in scoring with 21 points despite an ankle injury suffered in the Cyclones’ most recent loss, and also grabbed eight rebounds. Melvin Ejim scored 15 for Iowa State (14-2, 2-2), which was just 4-for-25 from 3-point range.

The Jayhawks jumped out to an early 15-4 lead behind five from Tharpe, but the Hawkeyes responded later with a 9-2 run that pulled the game back to 22-19 with a little more than eight minutes to play in the first half. Kane scored seven in the final moments of the opening half, and the teams went to the break even at 36.

Kansas scored the first nine points after the break, five of which came from Tharpe, to establish a working advantage. Iowa State closed the gap to five three times, but could get no closer.
