Nebraska 68, No. 15 Ohio State 62: Terran Petteway scored eight of his 18 points in the final three minutes as the host Cornhuskers snapped a five-game losing streak.

Shavon Shields recorded 18 points and nine rebounds for Nebraska (9-8, 1-4 Big Ten), which lost at Ohio State by 31 on Jan. 4. Deverell Biggs added 11 points for the Cornhuskers, who shot 50 percent from the field and beat the Buckeyes for the first time since 1985.

Aaron Craft led the way with 12 points and seven rebounds for Ohio State (15-4, 2-4), which lost its fourth straight since beating Nebraska. LaQuinton Ross had 11 points and Lenzelle Smith Jr. chipped in with 10 for the Buckeyes, who shot 39.6 percent from the field.

Shields’ three-point play with a little over seven minutes left in the first half ignited a 16-1 run that gave Nebraska a 14-point advantage. The Cornhuskers held the Buckeyes to 32 percent shooting and scored 15 points off turnovers before settling for a 34-25 lead at intermission.

Smith scored the first two baskets of the second half to start a 13-2 run that pushed the Buckeyes back in front with just under 15 minutes left. Biggs steal and basket with a little under five minutes remaining started a 6-1 run for a 51-47 lead, and the Cornhuskers made 17 of their last 20 free throws to seal it.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Cornhuskers, who had lost by an average of 25 points in their last six outings against Ohio State, snapped a nine-game losing streak to the Buckeyes. … Nebraska survived 17 turnovers – 10 of them coming in the second half – and made 20-of-26 free throws overall. … It was the first win over a ranked team in 16 tries for the Cornhuskers.
