No. 3 Wichita State 57, Loyola 45: Cleanthony Early scored 23 points as the Shockers remained unbeaten by cruising past the Ramblers in Missouri Valley Conference play.

Early made four 3-pointers and Wichita State (22-0, 9-0) continued its strong follow-up to last season’s NCAA Final Four appearance. Fred VanVleet contributed nine assists, eight rebounds and two steals.

Milton Doyle scored 16 points for Loyola (8-13, 3-6), which dropped to 0-9 on the road. The Ramblers shot just 35.3 percent from the field and missed six of 12 free-throw attempts.

The Shockers had a 48-29 lead midway through the second half before a scoring drought allowed Loyola to make an 11-2 run. Doyle’s layup with 3:40 left pulled the Ramblers within 10 and the deficit was trimmed to 52-43 before Wichita State scored the next five to seal it.

Early had 11 first-half points and Wichita State shot 50 percent from the field while taking a 36-18 lead. The advantage reached 22 early in the second half on Early’s 3-pointer and he later scored five straight points to give the Shockers the 19-point lead with 10:12 to go.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Wichita State was just 6-of-26 shooting in the second half to finish at 36.5 percent. … Doyle was 7-of-15 shooting, but the other four Loyola starters were a combined 5-of-20 for 14 points. … The Shockers collected 15 offensive rebounds while posting a 44-28 edge on the boards.
