North Carolina 84, North Carolina State 70: Leslie McDonald had a season-high 20 points to lead the host Tar Heels to their third straight win.

James Michael McAdoo added 16 points and 13 rebounds for North Carolina (14-7, 4-4 ACC) and Marcus Paige netted 15. Brice Johnson chipped in 10 points and seven rebounds off the bench while Kennedy Meeks had eight points and 10 rebounds.

T.J. Warren, the ACC's leading scorer, had 21 points and eight rebounds for North Carolina State (14-8, 4-5), which saw a three-game winning streak end. Desmond Lee added 18 points in a reserve role and Anthony Barber finished with 12 points.

The Wolfpack started the game 2-of-14 from the floor as North Carolina jumped out to an early 18-4 lead - getting seven points from Paige - in the first eight minutes, and North Carolina State never got closer than nine points the rest of the way. The Tar Heels closed the half on a 7-2 run, including a 3-pointer by J.P. Tokoto - for a 40-23 halftime lead.

Lee made three straight baskets to help the Wolfpack get within 55-42 with 12 minutes left but North Carolina responded with a 13-4 run, including a basket by McAdoo and McDonald's 3-pointer with eight minutes left. Warren's late scoring helped the Wolfpack cut the lead to 10 with about 90 seconds left but the Tar Heels closed the game with three inside baskets.

GAME NOTEBOOK: North Carolina has beaten the Wolfpack 11 straight times at home and has won 15 of the past 16 in the series. ... Warren had eight points in the first half and didn't score again until there was less than nine minutes left in the game, hitting four straight baskets to get going. ... McAdoo has scored in double figures in 14 straight games and McDonald has done it in five straight.
