Wichita State uncorked a 7-0 run - highlighted by 3-pointers from Baker and Early - to take a 34-22 lead en route to a 35-25 advantage at the break. Pickett had 10 points and nine rebounds in the first 20 minutes, but the Braves were hurt by 23.5 percent shooting from the field while missing 4-of-6 from beyond the arc.

VanVleet hit consecutive 3-pointers to start the second half and push the margin to 41-27, and back-to-back treys by Early and Baker made it 47-30 with 14:20 left. The Shockers stretched the lead to 62-42 on Chadrack Lufile's bucket with 6:57 remaining and didn't let the advantage slip below 13 the rest of the way.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Shockers have won 14 of their 17 MVC games by double-digits and their contests this season by an average of 15.2 points. ... The last team to start 30-0 was the 1990-91 UNLV club, which won its final seven games in the Big West and NCAA tournaments before losing in the Final Four, while the seven undefeated teams in history either didn't win 30 games or didn't reach that total until the NCAAs. ... Baker, a sophomore guard, improved to 43-2 as a starter.
