No. 6 Villanova 87, Marquette 76: Darrun Hilliard II led a balanced attack with 17 points as the visiting Wildcats won their eighth straight game.

Ryan Arcidiacono (16 points), Dylan Ennis (14 points) and Hilliard each made three 3-pointers for Villanova (25-2, 12-2 Big East), which finished a sparkling 11-of-21 behind the arc. Josh Hart contributed 12 points and seven boards off the Wildcats' bench.

The Golden Eagles (11-15, 3-11) lost for the ninth time in 10 games despite 20 points from Jajuan Johnson and 17 from Luke Fischer. Duane Wilson pitched in 15 points for Marquette while Derrick Wilson had 10 points and eight assists.

Hilliard scored a game-high 14 points in the first half as the Wildcats led 43-34 at the break. The Golden Eagles scored seven of the final nine points of the session to battle back from a 14-point deficit, but Arcidiacono made a pair of 3-pointers in the first 45 seconds of the second half and JayVaughn Pinkston added a basket to restore the cushion to 51-37.

Marquette later whittled its deficit to 63-53 before Hart made two quick baskets to restore order. The Golden Eagles continued to claw away and got within 69-59, but Ennis drained a 3-pointer as part of a 6-0 run and the Wildcats sailed to their fifth straight win in the series.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Wildcats F Daniel Ochefu, who had been 13-of-14 from the field over the last three games, battled foul trouble and scored only two points on 0-of-1 shooting. ... Pinkston had 14 points and nine rebounds as Villanova held a 39-27 rebounding advantage. ... Ennis contributed seven rebounds and six assists. He and Arcidiacono were each 3-of-4 from behind the arc, while Hilliard was 3-of-6.
