No. 2 Gonzaga 59, San Diego 39: Przemek Karnowski had a team-high 14 points and eight rebounds as the Bulldogs survived a strong push from the visiting Toreros.

Gary Bell Jr. added 13 points and Byron Wesley scored 12 for Gonzaga (29-1, 17-0 WCC), which has won 22 straight. Domantas Sabonis finished with 11 points and seven rebounds to lead the reserves for the Bulldogs, who outscored San Diego 19-4 over the final seven minutes.

San Diego didn’t have a player finish in double figures in scoring as Brandon Perry led the way with nine points. Duda Sanadze scored seven points and Johnny Dee, who came in averaging 17.8 for the Toreros (14-15, 7-10), finished with six.

Gonzaga finished the first half on a 9-0 run to take a 22-17 lead into the break, the largest lead for either side during the first half. The Bulldogs then came out and put up the first four points of the second half as the Toreros went scoreless for 6:32 bridging the two halves.

The Bulldogs extended the lead into double figures for the first time when Karnowski made his fourth basket of the second half for a 34-23 advantage with 14:41 left. San Diego made a push, scoring six unanswered points to draw within five with 12:37 on the clock, and the Toreros would get within five twice more in the next 5 1/2 minutes, but the Bulldogs finally put them away with a 10-1 run.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Gonzaga's 41-game home winning streak is the longest active streak in Division I. … San Diego head coach Bill Grier is a former assistant with Gonzaga. … The Bulldogs, who came in No. 1 in the nation in field goal percentage at 52.7, shot 38.1 in the first half before finishing at 51.1.
