Tamin Lipsey recorded a triple-double with 15 points, 10 assists and 10 rebounds as Iowa State broke things open with an early second-half spurt to win 99-80 over DePaul in the Big East-Big 12 Battle on Friday night in Chicago.

It was the first triple-double for the Cyclones since Tyrese Haliburton accomplished the feat against TCU in 2020. While Lipsey showed why he's the team leader in scoring, rebounding and assists, he got help with Tre King's 24 points and Keshon Gilbert's 21. Iowa State (6-2) avoided a third straight defeat by shooting 56.5 percent, owning a 52-24 advantage in the paint and scoring 30 points off 17 DePaul turnovers.

Chicago product Jeremiah Oden made six 3-pointers and finished with 25 points for DePaul (1-6), which went 9 of 19 from 3-point range and 21 of 24 from the free-throw line but was hindered by its turnover total en route to a fourth straight loss.

Iowa State led by four at the break, then scored the first eight points of the second half -- four coming from King. Following two free throws from Oden for DePaul's first points of the second half, the Cyclones scored the next 13. That game-changing surge was highlighted by back-to-back dunks from King, to go up 62-39 with 14:43 left.

King scored six of the first eight points of the night for Iowa State, which led 8-5 before the Blue Demons scored the next 10. That DePaul run included back-to-back 3-pointers from Oden, who entered with eight made 3-pointers through the previous six contests.

However, Lipsey scored the final seven points of a 9-0 run, and part of a 16-3 spurt, that put the Cyclones ahead 24-21. Iowa State kept that lead, but the Blue Demons got within two as K.T. Raimey made back-to-back buckets late in the first half before Milan Momcilovic knocked down a trey.

Oden fifth's 3-pointer of the half got DePaul again within two, but Lipsey's long shot gave Iowa State a 41-37 lead at the half.
